SeatPrune vs CoreView vs Trelica (Now 1Password): Which M365 License Tool Fits Your Team?

If you're evaluating tools to get Microsoft 365 license spend under control, the shortlist you found in an old blog post is probably out of date. The category reshuffled dramatically over the past eighteen months — this comparison reflects where everyone actually stands as of August 2026.

First: the category quietly emptied out

Three of the tools that used to headline "M365 license management" comparisons have moved on:

• CoreView repositioned around Microsoft 365 tenant resilience — security hardening against CIS baselines, configuration-drift detection, tenant backup and restore. License management still exists in the platform, but it's now one use-case tile on a security-first product. Their homepage message is literally "attackers don't break in, they log in."
• Trelica was acquired by 1Password (announced January 2025) and is now 1Password SaaS Manager, a module of their enterprise Extended Access Management platform. The Trelica free tier — once the only meaningful free option in the category — is gone from the offering. It's demo-gated, enterprise sales-led, and increasingly focused on AI/shadow-IT governance. • Zluri pivoted to identity security — IGA, identity posture management, non-human identities and AI agents. SaaS management is now a footer link on their site.

What remains: Torii and BetterCloud as the broad SaaS-management platforms (both strong, both enterprise-priced, both demo-gated), Augmentt as the MSP security suite, and SeatPrune as the M365 license-waste specialist.

The one difference that changes the math: pricing model

Almost every remaining tool prices per managed user — you pay for every user in the tenant being analysed, whether or not that user costs you anything:

• CoreView: roughly $2.50–$6 per user/month, quote-based, demo required
• 1Password SaaS Manager (Trelica): enterprise platform pricing, quote-based
• Torii / BetterCloud: roughly $2–$6 per user/month equivalent, quote-based
• Augmentt: roughly $1.50–$3 per user/month, MSP-oriented
• SeatPrune: flat bands — free to 200 users, $10/month to 300 users, $29/month up to 3 tenants and 1,000 users, $79/month for unlimited users, $15/tenant/month for MSPs (6+ tenants)

Concretely, for a 500-user tenant, per year: CoreView ≈ $15,000–$36,000; a broad SMP ≈ $12,000–$36,000; SeatPrune = $348 (the $29 Business tier). Per-user pricing means the tool's cost scales with the size of the problem; flat pricing means the savings scale and the cost doesn't.

What each tool actually is now

CoreView — M365 security & tenant resilience

If you're a large enterprise that needs delegated administration, virtual tenants, configuration backup/restore, and CIS-benchmark enforcement, CoreView is built for you and SeatPrune isn't. Buy it for security governance; treat the license reporting as a bonus. You'll pay platform prices for a platform — fair, if you need the platform.

1Password SaaS Manager (Trelica) — enterprise SaaS & AI governance

Now aimed at unifying SaaS discovery, access governance, and AI token-spend management across your whole app estate, sold as part of 1Password's enterprise platform. Genuinely impressive breadth (300+ integrations, a 2026 Gartner MQ Leader) — and correspondingly enterprise-shaped: demo call, annual contract, per-employee economics. Its M365 licensing depth is one integration among hundreds.

Torii / BetterCloud — the remaining broad SMPs

Torii leads on app discovery and now AI spend management; BetterCloud leads on no-code workflow automation (onboarding/offboarding) and backs itself with a contractual "3× ROI in 90 days" guarantee. Pick one if you're governing 30+ SaaS apps and M365 is just one of them.

Augmentt — MSP security toolkit

Now positioned as an MSP SaaS-security platform (threat detection, shadow-IT discovery, M365 posture) with per-user pricing. Solid if you want one MSP-branded security pane; the per-user model eats client margin as they grow (our MSP economics breakdown).

SeatPrune — the license waste specialist

SeatPrune does one job: find wasted M365 spend and price it.
